Holly Galbraith started Tourism Tweetup in mid 2011 as on opportunity for those working in tourism marketing to come together to chat about the use of social media as a marketing tool. We often get together as tourism sales people but much less often seem to have the opportunity to get together as tourism marketers. This thought lead to a tweet and this tweet lead to the idea to create a regular tourism marketing “TweetUp” or “MeetUp”. These tourism meetup events ran each month growing to over 100 people at the last event which was November 2015.
Many people have been asking when is the next one! Well firstly we have changed the name from Tourism Tweetup to Tourism Upgrade. They will kick off again in the second half of 2016 I promise. Watch this space.
In the meantime Emma Castle and I have launched Women In Tourism Leadership Events. We have held six events since February 2015, the first event we had 40 tourism professionals and the last one in October 2016 had 80 people. For more information on these events please sign up below or you can join the Facebook group here or to check out photos from the last event you’ll find them on my Facebook page.
The next Women in Tourism Leadership event is on Wednesday 8th March 2017 in Sydney. Details here.
